Affirming Faith-Based Therapy
in Orange County
Being able to tap into something greater than ourselves can be a powerful resource in therapy. What is more powerful and inspiring than awareness of the divine nature in us? I also recognize there can be a lot of confusion, shame and hurt around faith traditions. I encourage my clients to incorporate their faith in whatever way is meaningful, making space for the questions, contradictions and doubts that can come along with it. Even if your beliefs feel unclear or uncertain, if it matters to you, there is room for it in therapy. This is a safe space for body, mind and spirit.
The Greatest of These is Love
I am a Christian and all faith traditions are welcome. I am not here to preach at or persuade you about anything. I do not even assume, if we have the same faith tradition, that I know your perspective. Like with all aspects of my clients, I am deeply curious and fascinated to understand and see things through you eyes. It is not often that we find places where we can be open about our beliefs with safety and lack of judgment. I hope that if it would be helpful in your healing journey, that you could experiment with doing that here.

I know that the church has not always been the safe space we wanted it to be. The pain of that is multilayered and complex. It can be hard to reconcile what people and institutions do and how we see and experience God. I do not pretend to have it all figured out but I am doing my best to make a space that mirrors the love, compassion, and healing that I believe God embodies and desires for us all.

I do not select my clients by religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, race or ability. If I am less informed about your faith or religion or experience, I look forward to you sharing it with me. I believe therapy is about care, compassion, connection, and witnessing each other's inherent worth and humanity in whatever way it is expressed.
